Nike has appointed Amazon veteran Dr Muge Erdirik Dogan as its new Chief Technology Officer, according to an internal email to Nike staff.
“With Muge’s deep understanding of how technology can accelerate innovation, scale processes, increase efficiency, and ultimately drive growth,” Nike CEO John Donahoe said in the email, seen by Bloomberg.
Technology is important for Nike: The word “digital” (31 mentions) showed up more times than “Jordan”, “sport”, “running”, or even “revenue” on its last earnings call (15, 16, 24, 12, times respectively) on September 28, 2023 – but it is supply chain optimisation that is a current key focus for Nike.
