According to the Gartner hype cycle, AI has now cruised past the “Peak of Inflated Expectations” and is now merrily rolling towards the “Trough of Disillusionment”. This means that the initial excitement and buzz surrounding AI, particularly generative AI (GenAI), has started to fade as organisations begin to evaluate its practical applications and limitations.
The good news is that “True Productivity” from AI awaits us in a future phase, but it is worth considering what it will take to get there, because the gap needs to be filled by some hard and rather unglamorous work creating strong foundations. Fortunately, this won’t just benefit AI...
