Four of the UK government’s biggest departments are teaming up to procure a new ERP software provider and a new Systems Integrator (SI) to support them with their move to it, as they seek to integrate HR and finance functions under an ambitious new “Synergy Programme” that could be worth over £1 billion to partners over the next 12 years.
The project is being led by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), working with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA); and the Home Office (HO).
The four departments have over 250,000 end users, over half the entire civil service, and the programme – which seeks to deliver value and efficiency across all transaction services, including the separation of technology from service centres – is one of HMG’s most ambitious.
The participants in the Synergy Programme want the “ability to capture, manage and improve the quality of Finance and HR data to enable better informed decisions” and will use it to help drive “significant business transformation” as well as improved sustainability performance.
Delivery will be no mean feat...
