The UK’s largest police service is planning a sweeping rethink of its “clunky” ERP systems – software running its HR, finance and other services – and is deep into testing the waters ahead of contracts expiring.

Its existing ERP system, implemented in 2015, requires 55 separate secondary systems interfaces (including interfaces with other legacy systems) to function and has cost the Met police £428 million since 2015.
