Getting the technology right is just one part of the challenge of transformation. For James Osborn, Chief Digital Officer of KPMG, humans are the puzzle piece which must be put into place when overseeing organisational evolution.

"Over the years, there has been a growing appreciation for the people management aspect of this role," he tells The Stack. "That is the core, often limiting factor around change."

Osborn is a digital transformation veteran. In his two-decade-long career, he has led programmes prioritising enterprise-scale transformation programmes across the US, UK and Australia.

In his current role, Osborn is responsible for transforming the firm’s services and ways of working for 18,000 people, and that is not always easy.
